RShortRick has over 30 years of finance and accounting experience, over 20 of which are in the medical device industry. Rick has a track record of joining medical device companies in their early stages and contributing to their successful exits. Most recently, Rick was CFO for Pivot Medical.  Pivot developed, manufactured and sold products for hip arthroscopy.  Pivot was acquired by Stryker Corporation in March 2014.

Prior to Pivot, Rick was CFO of BÂRRX Medical. BÂRRX developed, manufactured and sold products used in the treatment of precancerous conditions of the esophagus.  Rick joined BÂRRX soon after initial commercialization and helped BÂRRX grow into a global company. BÂRRX was acquired by Covidien in January 2012.

From 2000 to 2005, Rick was Corporate Controller for Kyphon, during which time the company went public and developed into a global spine business.

Prior to Kyphon he held various positions at EP Technologies from 1993 through 2000, including Assistant Division Controller and Global Supply Chain Director. EP Technologies was acquired by Boston Scientific in 1996.

Rick began his medical device career with the Stryker Endoscopy in 1991. Prior to Stryker he held various accounting and auditing positions within FMC Corporation over a 9 year period.

Rick holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from Northern Illinois University and was registered as a Certified Public Accountant in 1982.
